Message from a lost civilization? Radio Signal from space arrives every 16 days

Earth regularly receives random radio waves from space, due to the dynamic nature of the universe. However, while most radio waves either emit once and never repeat, or sends repetitive fast radio bursts (FRBs) multiple times in sporadic or cluster form, this time, it was different.

Between September 16, 2018 to October 30, 2019, researchers at the Canadian Hydrogen Intensity Mapping Experiment/Fast Radio Burst Project collaboration detected a pattern of radio occurring every 16 or so days. Signal would release a burst or two each hour for a course of 4 days, then going silent for 12 days after.

The finding is available on arXiv and has yet to be peer-reviewed. However, the researchers concluded that the signal came from a massive spiral galaxy about 500 million light years away.

Unfortunately, the exact location of the radio burst has not yet been found, as the researchers could pinpoint multiple locations for the source of radio signals.

Authors of another research paper believe it could be from a neutron star, one of the smallest stars and remnants of supernovae, interacting with another star in a binary system.

As it turns out; scientists do not believe that it comes from another extraterrestrial civilization; however, it reveals an important aspect of reality unobserved.
