FAA Communication Outage Causes Massive Blockages at Dulles International Airport

On Tuesday, travelers found themselves missing flights and standing in long lines as Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) communication outage on Sunday grounded all domestic airplanes for two days straight.

The FAA blamed this outage on an overheated power cable at an FAA facility yesterday. Unfortunately, travelers leaving Dulles International Airport had to face long lines, delays, and cancellations. While the problem was noted and corrected before a major failure could have worsened the situation, travelers are nonetheless still experiencing the difficulties of the event.

The event led to more than 9,900 flight cancellations on Monday.
