At least five people were killed, including the suspect on Wednesday in a hospital campus in Tulsa, Oklahoma, police said in a news conference Wednesday evening.
According to CNN, “The gunman is also dead,” police said. The shooter’s gunshot wound was self-inflicted, Tulsa Police Department Deputy Chief Eric Dalgleish said in the news conference.
Dispatchers received a call about an active shooter at the Natalie Medical Building, a physicians’ office building on the St. Francis Hospital campus. It started around 4:52 p.m., local time. They both made contact with law enforcement at about 4:56 p.m.
This gunman’s identity is still unknown, and an investigation is ongoing for the suspect’s motive. The first responder arrived at the location and many heard gunshots from the physician’s office building. Officers helped to evacuate many people from room to room and floor to floor.
“There is nothing more this community could do for us than to pray for the families and the loved ones and the victims of this senseless act,” said Cliff Robertson, the Saint Francis Health System CEO, said in the news conference.
President Joe Biden has been briefed on the shooting, a White House official said. The White House is closely monitoring the situation and has reached out to state and local officials to offer support.
