With the pandemic payouts and several changes to the tax law within the past couple of years, the IRS has issued a notice telling taxpayers to be extra careful this year in filing an accurate tax return electronically to speed up refunds.
The tax season has started earlier than last year’s February 12 beginning. IRS expects at least 160 million individual tax returns for the 2021 tax returns, most of them happening before the April 18 tax deadline.
Several tax laws have changed because of the pandemic, and the IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig has recommended the taxpayers be extra careful when filing taxes this year.
Especially, the Commissioner explained that those who file electronically and choose direct deposit, the tax payers are likely to receive their returns faster.
