U.S. Federal Government Official resigns due to Conflict of Interest against Biden’s Foreign Policy

A senior official from the U.S. Educational Department resigned on Wednesday because of Biden’s administration’s foreign policy which aided the war between Israel and Gaza.

On Wednesday, 17 Biden re-election campaign staffers wrote anonymous letters warning that Biden could lose voters over the issues.

According to Yahoo.com, Tariq Habash, special assistant in the Education Department’s Office of Planning, Evaluation and Policy Development, in a letter to Education Secretary Miguel Cardona, said: “I cannot stay silent as this administration turns a blind eye to the atrocities committed against innocent Palestinian lives, in what leading human rights experts have called a genocidal campaign by the Israeli government.”

The United States has publicly slammed the rhetoric of some Israeli ministers and pushed Israel to curb civilian deaths in Gaza. Critics argue that Washington is not using its leverage as a major supplier of arms and aid to influence Israeli policy.

Josh Paul resigned from the State Department in October 2023. He was the director of congressional and public affairs at the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs. He wrote 2 pages of resignation letters in which he mentioned transferring arms to Israel during the Gaza and Israel war, “I am leaving today because I believe that in our current course with regards to the continued — indeed, expanded and expedited — provision of lethal arms to Israel — I have reached the end of that bargain.”

According to the  NPR, many government officials left their jobs so that it might draw attention to stop the war between Gaza and Israel faster. 80% of the Gaza civilians are in poverty, and 70% of the workforce became unemployed or without pay after Hamas took over the Gaza Strip in 2007.

Gaza is twice the size of Washington, D.C., According to the UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees, UNWRA. Nearly 1.9 million people – more than 85 percent of the population in Gaza – have been displaced across the Strip since 7 October.
