Montana Bans Tik Tok

Montana Governor, Gregory Richard Gianforte signed the action of the “TikTok” ban for all residents in Montana today. “Today, Montana takes the most decisive action of any state to protect Montanans’ private data and sensitive personal information from being harvested by the Chinese Communist Party,” Gianforte said in a statement.

TikTok spokesperson Brooke Oberwetter didn’t like the decision that it is unlawful and violates the First Amendment rights. “We want to reassure Montanans that they can continue using TikTok to express themselves, earn a living, and find community as we continue working to defend the rights of our users inside and outside of Montana,” Oberwetter said in a statement.

Lawmakers, the FBI, and officials from other agencies are concerned about this video-sharing app, owned by ByteDance, as it could be used to access information about American citizens. FMR President Trump should be banned due to the use of TikTok could be the collection of personal information by the Chinese Government. President Biden said that TikTok should be sold to America or banned.
Now is the time for the big decision to be made by other states to ban or strong regulations against users. Governor Gianforte stated that TikTok posed a “significant risk” to sensitive state data. It will go into effect on June 1.
Many states follow strong regulations against users who are under the age of 18.
