Last Saturday afternoon, a woman fell off of an Overlook at the Glassmine Falls on the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina and died due to her injury.
The woman identified Nancy Sampson (61) from South Carolina with a company, and she wanted to look closer at the Glassmine Falls which is located at 5200 feet in elevation. It is one of the most popular attractions, according to the National Park Service’s news release.
Rescuers found the woman around 150 feet below the overlook, a steep cliff. The Reems Creek, Blue Ridge Parkway, Mt Mitchell State Park, Reynolds Rescue, and Mama 2 all responded to the scene, according to The Reems Creek Fire Department Facebook post.
A family member was on scene and was “distraught” in the aftermath of the woman’s fatal fall, the Trauma Intervention Program of Western North Carolina said in a statement, and as reported by CNN.
