Government Contractor Arrested on Espionage Charge

A Federal contractor by the name of Abraham Teklu Lemma (50), a resident of Silver Spring, Maryland, was arrested due to espionage charges that he had provided classified information from the U.S. government computer system to a foreign country. Lemma downloaded and printed highly classified top-secret pieces of information from his work computer system, according to Yahoo.com.

Lemma, a naturalized U.S. citizen, comes from Ethiopia, and he had a Top Secret security clearance and access to classified information through contracting positions with the Department of State and Justice.

Lemma is accused of copying and downloading classified documents including intelligence reports and encrypting them to CDs and DVDs to transfer to a foreign country.

According to Yahoo.com, “The New York Times, which first reported the arrest, identified Ethiopia as the country for which Lemma is alleged to have spied.”
