On June 26, police officers and firefighters from around the world came together to participate in the 2015 World Police and Fire Games in Fairfax, VA. They come from 70 countries, with more than 12,000 athletes participating in 61 sports events. The event ends on July 5 with a half-marathon.
They arrived in good spirits to compete. The events allow the police officers and firefighters to use skills necessary for survival on the job to a more fun or competitive use.

Perth Firefighters from West Australia feature a group of charming and fun-loving crew, and they promoted their annual calendar program. The program is done with intent to raise money for their local hospital, and in 2014, they were able to donate $100,000 to the hospital. Mikyla (24) from Canada is a second year firefighter, and attended the World Games for the first time in 2015. She seemed to enjoy herself thoroughly, cheering and hollering for her teammates.
Vidya Wathsala Nanayakkara from Sri Lanka, is a Superintendent of the customs department. He explained that 30 people from Sri Lanka attended the event, and he proudly explained receiving the Silver medal in the Karate competition. US took the gold.
Fire Fighters For Christ is a multinational organization, founded in 1976. Currently, the organization provides emergency responses for 30 countries. Joseph Lindaman, founder of the organization stated he absolutely enjoyed being there, and loved saving lives all over the world, whether physically or spiritually.
The games are free for outdoor events, and anyone interested in supporting the firefighters should go see the event before they’re over on July 5.
