Bloodshed on West Indian American Day Parade held in Brooklyn, NY

Thousands of people visit Brooklyn every year to celebrate the West Indian American Day Parade, with its rich culture, colorful outfits, dining options, and skillful artcrafts and music. This year, the event was held on September 7.

Unfortunately, the event was marred by bloodshed.Carey Gabay got shot, the 43-year old lawyer from Harvard is a deputy of the Cuomo administration. At 3:30 in the morning, after attending “J’Ouvert,” a pre-parade party, he was shot from a stray bullet, resulting from two rival gangs’ gunfight. One man died with another bullet and Gabay was injured.

Emergency staffs transferred him to the nearby hospital immediately.  Gov. Cuomo visited hospital to see him and his family. He stated “Gabay is not doing well and is still in critical condition.”

No one was arrested with these incidents.
