Nadia Murad, a Yazidi survivor of ISIS’ sexual enslavement during the ISIS seizure in 2014, managed to escape after three months of hell. She was named UN’s first Goodwill Ambassador for the Dignity of Survivors of Human Trafficking. She refused to stay silent and ashamed of the abuse she and others endured, deciding to speak up for those victims.

Dr. Denis Mukwege comes from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and treats victims of rape, and the two received the Nobel Peace Prize for their dedication towards their devotion to highlighting and eliminating rape and other sexual violence as weapons of war.
