Prince Receives a Doctorate Degree and Brings the Rain

The Late Prince (Prince Rogers Nelson : June 7, 1958 – April 21, 2016) will receive an Honorary Doctorate Degree from University of Minnesota for his dedication to his hometown, Minneapolis, with vivacity through his musical influence that spanned globally.

According to AP, “The University President Eric Kaler and Regent Darrin Rosha will present the school’s highest honor, the Doctorate of Humane Letters, to Prince’s sister, Tyka Nelson, in a ceremony on campus Wednesday evening.” The University prepared this honor back in 2016 but only recently managed to present it to Prince’s sister, Tyka Nelson.

Many musicians will pay tribute to Prince, such as Kirk Johnson, Jellybean Johnson, St. Paul Peterson, Cameron Kinghorn with students from the school of Music of University of Minnesota as well.

Prince’s life ended with an accidental fentanyl overdose, but his legacy as Prince of Music will not fade away.

Prince was a singer, singer-songwriter, record producer, filmmaker, born and dead in Minnesota. And on rainy Wednesday evening, Purple Rain will ring throughout the campus of the University of Minnesota.
