Lauren Bernett was a softball player from James Madison University. The school announced her death on Tuesday; no cause of death was provided; the cause of death is still being investigated.

Burnett was a key member off the 2021 Women’s College World Series team as a freshman catcher.

Burnett is survived by her mother and father, two sisters, and two brothers. She was a biology major.
