Handyman set hidden cameras at his Client’s bathroom

Metropolitan Police arrested a handyman who installed a hidden camera in his client’s bathroom when he was doing a renovation project.

D.C police and prosecutors stated that a contractor, Eddy Giron (41) installed hidden cameras in the bathroom of an apartment in SW D.C. near the Waterfront Metro station while he was doing the apartment renovation. According to NBC Washington, the camera recorded video of the woman wearing only a t-shirt and of Giron going through the woman’s undergarments, police said.

Giron who lives in Hyattsville, Maryland, installed the camera in late June, and he moved the camera to inside a vent, beneath the sink to see the toilet in the bathroom over the course of the three days. According to the charging document.

Metropolitan Police Department Chief Robert Contee said, “It’s a very sick thing. Someone hired a contractor and when you vet your contractor, you expect them to do the work that you’ve paid them to do – not anything extra like placing a stealthy camera someplace on your property to record you in your private interactions in your home. I’m thankful that the complainant [, in this case,] was able to detect that camera,”

Giron was charged with voyeurism. Recently, DMV areas are encountering something that is not used to doing things like this home renovation project with hidden cameras.

Waukesha Parade Killing Suspect Found Guilty of All Charges

Last year, an SUV driver mowed his vehicle against people who gathered to enjoy the Christmas parade in a peaceful small town, Waukesha, Wisconsin, killing 6 people and injuring more than dozens. The suspect, Darrell Brooks (40) defended himself at the trial and received a verdict today. The jury found him guilty of 77 counts including six counts of first-degree intentional homicides and 61 counts of felony reckless endangerment. He faces a mandatory life sentence on each count.

After 3 hours and 15 minutes of the trial on Wednesday morning, the jury reached a verdict before announcing. He was found to have lied about the SUV’s throttle malfunction and panicking when he mowed the people. District Attorney Susan Opper countered during her rebuttal that a Wisconsin State Patrol vehicle inspector testified earlier that the SUV was in good working order. Opper warned jurors that Brooks was just trying to play on their sympathy.

District Attorney Susan Opper called to the stand police officers and paradegoers who testified they saw Brooks behind the wheel of the SUV. according to AP, Brooks pleaded not guilty by reason of mental disease this September but withdrew the plea before his trial began with no explanation. Judge Dorow said in court last week that psychologists found Brooks has a personality disorder but was mentally competent to stand trial.

According to a criminal complaint, Brooks, 40, got into an argument with his ex-girlfriend on Nov. 21, then sped off and drove onto the parade route despite police shouting at him to stop and shooting guns at him. Police officers described the SUV as moving side to side and running over people. Opper showed more than 300 videos that directly pointed to the suspect’s intentional homicide.

The dead included 8-year-old Jackson Sparks, who was marching in the parade with his baseball team, and four members of a group calling itself the Dancing Grannies, a group of grandmothers who dance in parades. Police captured Brooks after he abandoned the SUV and tried to get into a nearby house, the complaint said.

His behavior was insane and eventually, Judge Dorow moved him to a separate room to watch the video through the proceedings at the court. Judge Dorow faced many difficulties due to the defendant’s terrible behavior. Nonetheless, the guilty man will be held behind bars, and the families can now mourn.

RSV infection threats increase children hospitalization in the U.S.

There are no specific treatments for this new virus that attacks vulnerable children. Recently, RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) has been found to be showing up in 42 states in the U.S. RSV is a virus that acts like mild cold symptoms: runny nose, cough, and fever that can eventually lead to severe breathing problems for patients who have a weaker immune system.

Doctors and hospitals see the number of hospitalized patients increasing due to RSV since the Covid-19 restrictions eased in the summer of 2021. Most U.S. children who are as young as 2 years old can catch the RSV infection. If there is no remedy for the virus then what shall we do for now? The current recommendation includes getting updated flu vaccines and staying current on the Covid-19 vaccine and boosters. This RSV can spread for up to four weeks and some low-immunity persons or babies are at risk.

The problem with this virus is that anyone can be infected. From babies to those over 65 years old adults who have weak immunity.

According to PBS,

“Among U.S. kids under age 5, RSV typically leads to 58,000 hospitalizations and up to 500 deaths in a year. For adults 65 and older, RSV causes 177,000 hospitalizations and 14,000 deaths yearly. For babies, the struggle to breathe can interfere with eating. And that’s really when we start to worry,” said Dr. Melanie Kitagawa of Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, where more than 40 children have RSV.

“They’re breathing fast, breathing deep. We see them using muscles in their chest to help them breathe,” Kitagawa said. “These are kids who are having difficulty taking a bottle because their breathing is being impacted and they can’t coordinate both at once.”

If anyone gets RSV or like RSV symptoms, do not hesitate and call 911 or go to the emergency room in the hospital.

For the Covid-19 booster shot appointment, go to your pharmacy and ask for a vaccine appointment. For example, to make an appointment online, go to www.harristeeter.com/rx or call 1-866-211-5320 if you are a customer of this pharmacy.

At least a dozen coffins hanging in the air after Cemetery Building Collapse

It is the so-called Resurrection but much more troublesome. A building also operating as a cemetery collapsed in Italy, and this is the second time where a cemetery building has collapsed this year so far. After the collapse of the marble building, at least a dozen coffins were found hanging in the air bringing critics from the public. No visitors were at the cemetery at the time of the collapse on Monday, and the building had remained closed.

“The collapse was preceded by a bang and a dense cloud of dust,” said Vincenzo Santagada, a Naples councilor who has responsibility for the cemeteries. Families of the dead had a protest on Tuesday. According to The Guardian, A separate investigation is continuing after about 300 burial niches were destroyed in the collapse of a building in another area of the cemetery in January.

People from all over the states know the best time to visit Shenandoah National Mountains, and there were many cars sporting different state licenses on Skyline drive on Monday. However, the weather was a little shy about the tides of people who passed by the outlook with a cloudy sky. Many senior citizens were seen holding tightly onto their smartphones or cameras to catch the beautiful views.

Fall seems to be nearing its end as quickly as it has arrived, with weather forecasters calling for snow and a quick drop in temperatures as early as tomorrow. Peak foliage will be between this week and next week in Washington, D.C. areas.

There are many parks surrounding DMV. There are at least 10 best spots for nature lovers:

  1. Shenandoah National Mountains
  2. Rock Creek Park
  3. Prince William Forest
  4. Blandy Experimental Farm
  5. Harpers Ferry
  6. National Mall
  7. National Arboretum
  8. Dumbarton Oaks

Is Loudoun County the Next K-Restaurant Spot?

Since K-Pop has become more famous around the world, K-Restaurants are booming all around the globe. From Korean fusion snacking restaurants to K-style bakeries located in northern Virginia, these places are crowded especially at meal times. Paris Baguette is one of them. Paris Baguette has reportedly begun searching for a business location in Loudoun County. One might expect Shilla Bakery to follow suit, as Northern Virginia is home to a big Korean population.

Korean-owned companies are prone to compete in the business field which comes from the Korean culture where competition has always been notoriously fierce, from as young as pre-schoolers to death.

Paris Baguette bakery is slightly more expensive than Shilla Bakery, but its decor is more modern, and its food, equally so. Shilla Bakery’s breads are more traditional or familiar to the generation of Koreans who grew up in the 70s and 80s, whereas Paris Baguette is more appealing to the younger generation due to its experimental nature.

That being said, as the price of living in Loudoun county is quite high, if the prices reflect this, Koreans and other K-food-loving folks might go to the cheaper stores in Centreville or Fairfax, and the stores should keep this in mind when pricing their foods. No one wants a reputation of being exceedingly highly-priced as that will drive down demand.

Hurricane Julia hits Central America

Julia made landfall in Nicaragua early Sunday morning and crossed into the eastern Pacific that night. With more than 25 confirmed death in Venezuela, Julia changed her path and status to a tropical storm from Hurricane 1, with meteorologists continuing to warn of the dangers of the storm.

Late Sunday morning, Julia lost wind intensity, and at 1 pm EDT Sunday, the sustained wind speed was down to 40 mph from 70 mph. The storm was centered roughly 15 miles south of San Salvador, El Salvador. Julia left more than two dozen people dead due to the mudslides from heavy rainfall in Venezuela last weekend.

Most of the central American countries are under siege from the torrential rains with the undeveloped infrastructures collapsing. Until Tuesday, Julia will be lingering at the thin waist of the American continent threatening with more rainfall.

The most far-reaching threats to lives and property are likely to stem from torrential rainfall in Central America. A general 8-12 inches (200-300 mm) is forecast in central and western Nicaragua, as well as part of southern Honduras and perhaps eastern El Salvador where an AccuWeather Local StormMax™ of 20 inches (500 mm) is anticipated. Rainfall of this magnitude will lead to major flooding of rivers, flash flooding of small streams and urban areas, and the likelihood of mudslides in mountainous terrain.
